Show Your Girl Power
and Stand with Planned Parenthood

Downtown Bookworks will donate a portion of the proceeds from sales of My First Book of Girl Power and The Big Book of Girl Power for the two-week period from March 1 to March 15 to Planned Parenthood.

My First Book of Girl Power is a board book that introduces little ones (up to age 4) to DC’s wonderful role models, including Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Raven, Bumblebee, and more.

The Big Book of Girl Power is a picture book for children (ages 4 to 8) who want to learn about the inspiring backstories and amazing superpowers of DC’s heroines.

Both books are by Julie Merberg, President of Downtown Bookworks. “When we first conceived of and published these books, we just thought it would be a great idea to showcase powerful female role models for young girls. Now, our girl power books feel more like a rallying cry.”

Using the stories of well-known super heroes such as Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Bumblebee, and Batgirl, both books emphasize that women are strong, smart, brave, and kind. These super heroes, like many women in the world, tell the truth, work hard to keep other people safe from harm, and use their smarts and skills to do amazing things.

The last page of The Big Book of Girl Power sums up how we at Downtown Bookworks feel and why we choose to support Planned Parenthood through our sales:
